Before

The kitchen and nook had a heavy and dark feel.
I removed the armoire against the wall and added a built in bar and storage cabinet. We updated it with backlit frosted glass cabinets, and Ann Sacks iridescent glass backsplash tile. I added a new chandelier, vintage style pendant lights from Arteriors over the island, and some white leather barstools. The new tile on the built in unit continues through the kitchen

After
Here we added faux wood beams on the ceiling, then removed the carpet and replaced it with wood installed at a 45 degree angle. The fireplace wall was stripped down and simplified. The upholstery is from Lee Industries at the Laguna Design Center (Witford Showroom). I designed the custom ottoman, and had it upholstered in a cowhide.

A relatively simple room, but keeping it simple and refined is what made it a success.
Wow - what a difference! Great job!
